Duration: Approx. 6hrs Blended Learning (Face-to-Face and Online Learning)

Note: This course is designed for experienced certified excavator operators who are required to lift suspended loads over 3 tonnes. You must already hold a current competency to operate an excavator.

Introduced August 10, 2025 – Regulatory licensing requirements, to legally lift loads >3 tonnes suspended from an excavator in Western Australia:

The excavator operator must either:

1. Hold a Slewing Crane (up to 20t) High Risk Work License (C2), or
2. Hold a Dogging High Risk Work Licence (DG) and a current Statement of Attainment for SLELIC301 Conduct Safe Lifting with Excavators.

Course Details: Participants are required to either;

• complete an eLearning program including an online assessment, prior to undergoing any practical training and/or assessment, OR
• complete a full face-to-face training course by appointment.

Upon successful completion: All participants who complete this course successfully will be awarded a Western Australian recognised Statement of Attainment issued by Daysafe.

The course comprises the below Learning Modules and Theory Assessments:

• Module 1: Legislative Requirements
• Module 2: Prepare for Lifting Operations
• Module 3: Conduct Safe Lifting Operations with an Excavator

What you will learn about:

• General mobile plant safety
• Planning and preparing for lifting operations
• Understanding load charts
• Rigging equipment inspection
• Safe lifting, transporting and landing loads
• Emergency procedures
• Post operational procedures

Online Learning: The theory part of this course is completed online, using any device with an internet connection, including a smart phone or tablet. The online learning must be completed prior to attending the practical session.

Practical & Final Theory Assessment: After completing the Online-Learning Modules, students will attend the practical session on the date and time as selected during booking.

Verification of Competency (Non-Accredited) 
Price: Start at $250 per VOC
Duration: Approx. 2 hours

This VOC is conducted to verify that an operator can in fact safely lift, transport and place loads over 3 tonnes with an excavator that they have a competency ticket or valid license for.

No training is provided as part of this process as it is “Verification Only”. Participants undertaking this VOC need to have current operating experience on the make and model being used, and for the work they are conducting.
