To enrol in light/commercial vehicle training, participants must meet the following entry requirements:
- Identification: Must have relevant and valid driver’s licence, not expired.
- Unique Student Identifier (USI): Must provide a valid Unique Student Identifier.
- English language: Participants must have a strong command of the English language, to understand training resources, complete required documentation, communicate effectively, and undertake written and practical assessments.
- Physical capability: Must be physically capable of safely undertaking the practical training and assessment.
- Safety requirements: Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions, identify workplace hazards, and comply with relevant safety procedures.
- Clothing and footwear: Must wear appropriate clothing and safety boots during practical training and assessment.
- Support needs: Participants who require additional support should discuss their needs with Daysafe Training before training commences.
The course comprises online learning, a written theory assessment, and a practical assessment. Participants must have a strong command of the English language to understand the course content, follow safety instructions, and successfully complete the written theory assessment.
This course involves the skills and knowledge required to maintain the safety of and to operate, a light and/or commercial vehicle across a variety of job roles which includes monitoring traffic and associated equipment, managing vehicle condition and performance, and effectively managing hazardous situations.
It also includes:
- Planning for operations
- Perform pre-departure checks
- Identifying hazardous situations
- Driving in various traffic conditions
- Monitoring traffic and road conditions
- Positioning the vehicle for loading
- Reversing
- Perform maintenance and minor repairs on four-wheel drive vehicles
Licensing, legislative, regulatory and certification requirements that apply to this unit can vary between states, territories, and Industry sectors.
Online Learning: The theory part of this course is completed online, using any device with an internet connection, including a smart phone or tablet. The online learning must be completed prior to attending the practical session.
Students will receive an email containing a link to the Online-Learning Portal shortly after enrolment, please ensure that the spelling of your email address is correct. If you do not receive the link or cannot find it in your inbox, please check your spam/junk folder.
Practical & Final Theory Assessment: After completing the Online-Learning Modules, students will attend the practical session on the date and time as selected during booking.
Upon successfully completing the training, participants will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment issued by Daysafe Training.
